INSTRUMENTATION CABLE

Specifications: BS: 5308(1 &2), IEC-189 (1 & 2), VDE 0815, ENI 0181 and Customer Specifications

GARMAL CABLES provides a wide range of cables suitable for process control and signal transmission. In the industries related to Power Generation & Distribution, Petrochemical, Fertilizers, Steel Plants, Oil refineries, Aluminum Plants and other Engineering Industries the process instrumentation plays a vital role in quality, productivity, economy and control of the entire plant.
Foil shielding or braid screening is the most important part of instrumentation cables which are provided by Aluminum Mylar Tape with copper drain wire or tinned copper simultaneously. Both the type have got their respective advantages. Shielding provides 100% cable coverage necessary for electrostatic shield protection because of their small size, foil shields are commonly used to shield individual pairs of multi pair data cables to reduce crosstalk.
They have less weight bulk and cost less than screening and are generally more effective than screening in RF ranges. It is more flexible but have a shorter flex life span. Drain wire are used along with this to make termination easier and to ground electrostatic discharges. The shortcoming is higher DC resistance and lower mechanical strength. Shielding is selected for protection against capacitive (electric field) coupling where shield coverage is more important than low DC resistance. When possible sources of interference include TV signals, crosstalk from other circuits, radio transmitters, fluorescent lights or coupling equipment for MATV, CATV, Video, networking, computer I/O cables in office, industrial or commercial environment where ambient EMI levels are low. Armouring is provided to prevent the cables from mechanical stresses.

Control Cables generally have the following characterics:
Conductor : 0.2 Sq. mm to 2.5 Sq. mm or higher sizes of Annealed Bare/Tinned
  Solid/stranded/Multistranded Electrolytic Copper Conductor.
Insulation : 70°C/85°C/105°C PVC Type A, HR, FR, HFFR compound
Elements : Cores / Pairs / Triads / Quads colour coded or number printed
Shielding : Aluminum foil laminated to a Polyester tape along with Annealed Tinned Copper Drain wire is used for individual element or overall shielding as specified
Screening : Annealed Tinned copper wire Braiding is used for individual element or overall Screening as specified.
Armouring : Galvanized Steel Round wire/Flat Strip Armouring
Inner/Outer Jacket : 70°C/85°C/105°C PVC ST-1, ST-2, FR, FRLS, HFFR Compound
